images from here.
I'm going up to northern Alberta today for a little bit and I started thinking about the Canadian Arctic and their fascinating culture.
In the late 50's the artist James Houston went to the remote Inuit community of Cape Dorset in Nunavut and started a graphic arts workshop, the idea took off and today Cape Dorset is a huge hub for Inuit art.
One of their most prominent artists is Kenojuak Ashevak who started drawing in the late 1950's, her work has even been featured on postage stamps and coins in Canada.
I love how her art is so  full of colour and life.
