I LOVE madewell! I havent made the plunge and actually bought anything yet .. but soon .. very soon!
Also -- to answer you question -- I wear my denim shirt with black jeans and really dark wash jeans with a bright scarf on top. Or a cream colored sweater on top. This image has been a big inspiration:
